Bol’shev, Login Nikolaevich
Born Mar. 6, 1922, in Moscow; died there Aug. 29, 1978. Soviet mathematician. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1974). Bol’shev graduated from Moscow State University in 1951 and became a professor there in 1969. In 1951 he joined the staff of the V. A. Steklov Institute of Mathematics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. His principal works dealt with mathematical statistics and probability theory.
