Osteomyelitis is a rare manifestation, usually part of a disseminated infection involving metaphyseal regions of long bones and vertebral bodies.
Eosinophilic granuloma manifests clinically as osteolytic lesions of the skull, long bones, ribs, and/or vertebrae; there is a notable lack of systemic involvement.
Of the 19 lesions of the long bones of the lower and upper extremity, 16 (84%) were in the metaphysis and 3 (16%) were in the diaphysis.
