Lophochloa
a genus of plants of the family Gramineae. They are annual grasses with flat blades. The inflorescence is a cylindrical panicle, and the spikelets are three-, four-, or five-flowered, compressed from the sides and with a keeled lemma. There are six species, distributed in southern Europe and South-west Asia. In the USSR, two species are found, including L. phleoides, which grows in sandy areas and the loess foothills of the Crimea, in the Caucasus, and Middle Asia; it is a forage plant and is suitable for artificial pastures and for making hay.
