Lordkipanidze, Kirill Bezhanovich
Born Sept 28 (Oct. 10), 1839, in the village of Dikhashkho, in present-day Vani Raion, Georgian SSR; died May 12, 1919, in Kutaisi. Journalist and public figure. Representative of tergdaleulebi, a social and literary movement among Georgian intellectuals in the 1860’s. As a student at the University of St. Petersburg, Lord-kipanidze took part in the student disturbances of 1861. In 1864 he prepared and published in St. Petersburg a collection of verse in Georgian by the Georgian shestidesiatniki poets entitled Chonguri. He also contributed to their magazine Sakartvelos moambe (Herald of Georgia). In 1873-74 he was editor of the newspaper Droeba (Time), and in 1881-83 he worked for the Georgian populist newspaper Shroma (Labor). REFERENCERatiani, P. K.
