Loschmidt’s Number

(NL) the number of molecules in 1 cm3 of an ideal gas under standard conditions: NL = NA/VV, where NA is Avogadro’s number and Vv is the volume of 1 mole of an ideal gas (in cm3). Named after J. Loschmidt, it is equal to 2.687 × 1019 cm−3. In the western scientific literature the term is sometimes used to represent the number of molecules in 1 mole of a substance, that is, Avogadro’s number.
