Lothrop, Harriet Mulford (b. Stone) (Margaret Sidney, pen name) (1844–1924) writer; born in New Haven, Conn. She attended private school in New Haven, married Daniel Lothrop, founder of the Lothrop publishing company (1881), and settled in the former home of Louisa May Alcott and Nathaniel Hawthorne in Concord, Mass. She is remembered, among many other works, for the Five Little Peppers and How They Grew (1881) series for children.
