Renault, Louis

Renault, Louis (lwē rənō`), 1843–1918, French jurist, professor of international law at the Univ. of Paris. Renault was one of the founders of the scientific study of international law in France. He sat on the Hague Tribunal (the Permanent Court of Arbitration) and did much to advance the cause of international arbitration. He shared with E. T. Moneta the 1907 Nobel Peace Prize.
