Low, Mary (Louise b. Fairchild) MacMonnies (1858–1946) painter; born in New Haven, Conn. She studied at the Académie Julien in Paris and married Frederick MacMonnies (1888). After her divorce she married Will Low (1909), and returned to America to live in New York City. During her stay in France she painted sunny impressionistic scenes, such as Five O'Clock Tea (1891). |
