Loyola University of Chicago, at Chicago; Jesuit; coeducational; est. 1870 as St. Ignatius College, present name adopted 1909. It has a liberal arts college and a graduate school, as well as schools of medicine, dentistry, nursing, social work, law, business administration, and education. The university consists of the Lake Shore (1906), Water Tower (1945), and Medical Center (1969) campuses in Chicago, as well as a campus in Rome, Italy. Niles College seminary is affiliated.
