Wienbarg, Ludolf 

Born Dec. 25, 1802, in Altona; died Jan. 2, 1872, in Schleswig. German journalist and literary theorist.

Wienbarg’s book Aesthetic Journeys (1834) became the manifesto of the Young Germany literary movement. Wienbarg formulated the positions of realist aesthetics in his polemic against romanticism. In 1835, Wienbarg’s works were banned by the federal diet; subsequently, Wienbarg edited various newspapers in Hamburg.
