Ludwig, Carl Friedrich Wilhelm (kärl frē`drĭkh vĭl`hĕlm l t`vĭkh), 1816–95, German physiologist. He became world famous as professor (from 1865) and head of the physiological institute at the Univ. of Leipzig. Ludwig pioneered in the study of physiology as related to the physical sciences and introduced improved laboratory methods and apparatus, notably the kymograph.How to thank TFD for its existence?
