Ludza 

a city, the administrative center of Ludza Raion, Latvian SSR. Located in the eastern part of the republic and surrounded by lakes. Ludza has a railroad station on the Rezekne-Velikie Luki line, 248 km southeast of Riga. The Metallist Factory, a flax-processing plant, a dairy, a poultry combine, and a logging and timber distribution establishment are there. A museum of local lore is in Ludza.
