Lukashevich, Aleksandr Osipovich 

Born in January 1855; died after 1907. Russian revolutionary. Populist. Son of an Austrian subject on the estate of Kassal’, Sofievka, Dneprovsk District, Tauride Province.

Lukashevich entered the St. Petersburg Technological Institute in 1873. In February 1874 he became a member of the Chaikovskii circle. He participated in the Going to the People movement (Vladimir Province, Moscow, Nizhnii Novgorod, and elsewhere). During 1874-75 he was a member of the All-Russian Socialist Revolutionary Organization and carried on propaganda among the workers. Lukashevich was arrested in Moscow in April 1875. He was tried in the Trial of the 50 (1877) and the Trial of the 193 (1877-78). He spent the years from 1878 to the 1890’s in Siberia at hard labor and in exile. His memoirs To the People! were published in the journal Byloe (1907, no. 3).
