Lukoml’ State Regional Electric Power Plant 

a large steam power plant near NovolukomF, Vitebsk Oblast, Byelorussian SSR. Rated power, 4,000 megawatts (MW). Construction began in 1964. The first power unit was put into service in 1969. As of Jan. 1, 1973, the plant had achieved a power of 1,500 MW (five power units of 300 MW each). Mazut and coal are used for fuel. It has a circulating water-supply system with a cooling pond. The electric power is transmitted over power lines at voltages of 110 and 330 kilovolts. The plant is part of the electric power system of the Northwest.
