Lupan, Anna Pavlovna 

Born Sept. 18, 1922, in the village of Miguleny, Rezina Raion. Soviet Moldavian author.

Lupan comes from a peasant family. She graduated from the Advanced Literary Courses of the Writers’ Union of the USSR in Moscow in 1960. Her works first appeared in print in 1953. She is the author of the short-story anthologies Road to the Village (1955), Autumn Flowers (1960), and The Philter (1964; Russian translation, 1966). The novella The Wind in Her Face (1957) describes the fate of a young schoolteacher. The novel Earth, Where Are Your Plowmen? (1960; Russian translation, 1964) deals with events of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-45. The novel At Cock’s Crow (1966) is about life in a modern Moldavian village. Lupan is also the author of the drama The Wheel of Time (1959) and the comedy All’s Right (1962).
