Lupino, Ida (1918– ) movie actress/director/producer; born in London, England. A descendant of a celebrated British theatrical family, she began her film career in England with Her First Affaire (1933). She went to Hollywood where she had a number of minor roles until she appeared in The Light that Failed (1940), which led to her playing a series of rather tough women, as in Beware My Lovely (1952). By the 1950s she began to concentrate more on writing, directing, and producing movies and television films. She made several movies and a television series, Mr. Adams and Eve, with her third husband, Howard Duff. How to thank TFD for its existence?
