Lure, Anatolii Isakovich

Lur’e, Anatolii Isakovich 

Born June 6 (19), 1901, in Mogilev. Soviet scientist in theoretical and applied mechanics; corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1960). Graduated from the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute in 1925. From 1925 to 1941 he worked at the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute (he became a professor in 1935), and in 1944 he became a subdepartment head at the institute. From 1942 to 1944 he was at the Urals Industrial Institute.

Lur’e’s major works concern the theory of elasticity (including nonlinear elasticity), the stability of automatic control systems (the dynamics of space-flight control and the design of optimum control systems), and analytical mechanics. He has been awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and medals.
