Lusitanians 

(Latin, Lusitani), an Iberian tribe that inhabited the southwestern part of the Iberian Peninsula (the greater part of modern Portugal). Beginning in 193 B.C., they carried on a fierce struggle with Rome, being finally conquered in 61 B.C. The Roman province established in about 15 B.C. (under the emperor Augustus) on the territory of the Lusitanians received the name Lusitania.
