Lutskii, Aleksei Nikolaevich 

Born Feb. 10 (22), 1883, in the city of Kozlov, now Michurinsk; died May 1920 at Murav’ev-Amurskaia station, now Lazo station, Primor’e Krai. Fought in the Civil War in Siberia and the Far East. Became a member of the Communist Party in 1918 (in 1917 according to other sources).

Lutskii graduated from the Tiflis Military School in 1904 and attained the rank of staff captain. He became chief of counter-intelligence in the zone of the right-of-way of the Chinese Eastern Railroad in August 1917 and actively collaborated with the Bolsheviks. Lutskii became a member of the Harbin soviet of workers’ and soldiers’ deputies in November 1917, and in December the Soviet government appointed him commissar of the zone of the right-of-way of the Chinese Eastern Railroad. Lutskii was engaged in military work in the Central Executive Committee of the Soviets of Siberia from January to September 1918. He became a member of the Military Council of the Provisional Government of the Primor’e oblast local administration in Vladivostok in February 1920. On Apr. 5, 1920, together with the other members of the Military Council, Lutskii was arrested by the Japanese interventionists. At the end of May 1920 he was burned alive in the firebox of a railroad engine, together with S. G. Lazo and V. M. Sibirtsev.
