    Ma 

    a goddess of Asia Minor, mother of gods. The Ma cult was akin to the cult of Cybele and was of an orgiastic character. From the first century B.C., Ma was venerated in Rome, where she was often identified with the goddess Bellona.


    Ma 

    (Song Ma), a river in North Vietnam and Laos. Rising on the slopes of the Sam-Chou Range, it flows for 400 km to the Gulf of Tonkin, where it forms a delta. High water occurs in July and August, and the river is navigable in its lower reaches. The delta is densely populated. The largest town along the river is Thanh-hoa.
