medianet (MEDIA NETwork) A network that is optimized for high-traffic video. Medianets are able to detect the type of endpoint device being used. For example, using H.364 AVC (Advanced Video Coding), a medianet can switch to a low-bandwidth video signal when the target is a smartphone rather than a desktop monitor. In addition, it can adjust bandwidth in the same manner when the network is congested. Another advantage of medianets is being able to send IP surveillance video over the same network as corporate data. The proper access controls can be configured for users when the network is aware of what kind of device is sending data.Want to thank TFD for its existence?
