mMode
A wireless Web service from AT&T Wireless introduced in 2002. Initially offering a trimmed-down version of Japan's successful i-mode service, mMode offers a variety of news, weather, traffic, games, reference materials and yellow and white page directories. It uses WAP/WML, the wireless HTML protocols, to deliver abbreviated Web pages to the color displays of mMode phones. See i-mode and WAP.

In addition to providing access to high-speed wireless data connections and enhanced content through AT&T Wireless' mMode in the four markets announced, the handsets can be used to make voice calls or access wireless data connections at speeds equivalent to standard wired dial up service, when customers travel outside the four initial markets.
The service was offered on a free, trial basis in June to current AT&T mMode subscribers, and later will be $2.
Subscribers to the mMode service will be able to amuse themselves with MotoGP, Tetris, Astrosmash and WWE Mobile Madness, available at prices from $1 to $4.
