5-inch MO disks (MODs) from medical imaging equipment to notebook PCs and workstations for convenient offline review at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) 2004 Conference and Exhibition, February 22-26 in Orlando, Florida.
The capacity of MO disks has doubled every two to three years, effectively cutting its cost in half with each generation; but hard disk capacity increases and cost decreases have doubled at intervals of less than 6 months over that 15-year period.
Because there is no single industry standard, an MO disk made on one manufacturer's drive cannot be read on another make of drive.
