Mac App Store
Apple's online store for downloading paid and free Mac OS X applications developed by third-party developers, as well as by Apple. Launched in January 2011 and available in a subsequent Snow Leopard OS update, the Mac App Store is similar to the iTunes App Store for iDevices (iPhone, etc.). For example, submitted software is evaluated for compliance before it is made available to the public. Users can search categories, download apps and launch them from the Mac Dock or from the Mac OS X Launchpad (see Lion). Also like iTunes, users can update all their apps with one click.
