MacMillan, Whitney (1929– ) corporate executive; born in Minneapolis, Minn. He worked his way through the grain division and corporate ranks of the family business, Cargill, Inc., becoming president (1975–76), CEO (1976), and chairman (1977). Besides expanding this giant grain merchant and processor into the world's largest grain trader, he diversified the company into retail consumer markets, insurance, and commodity investment services.
