Macromedia(Macromedia, Inc., San Francisco, CA, www.macromedia.com) A software company specializing in multimedia authoring tools that was acquired by Adobe Systems, Inc. in mid-2005. It was founded in 1992 by the merger of Authorware, Inc., which was founded in 1984, and MacroMind-Paracomp. Macromind was founded in 1984 and merged with Paracomp in 1991. Macromedia's primary products are Dreamweaver, ColdFusion, Flex and Macromedia Director for Mac and Windows.
