Medeba (mĕd`ĭbə, mē`–), town, Jordan, the modern Madaba, E of the Dead Sea. An ancient Moabite town, it changed hands between Moab and Israel several times. In early Christian times it was a bishop's see. One of the oldest maps of Palestine (probably 6th cent.) was found there in a mosaic in a Byzantine church. Medeba is mentioned several times in the Bible. How to thank TFD for its existence?
