Maglev train supporters say the system can fit into urban areas more easily than conventional railroads or high-speed trains on steel tracks because maglevs can get by on narrower rights-of-way.
maglevs seem to be stalled at a snail's pace--mainly because of the pricey cost of building them.
Although the United States has dabbled in research and development, most of the research on maglevs is being done in Japan, the United Kingdom and West Germany.
