Magnitnaia Gora
a mountain on the eastern slope of the Southern Urals, in Cheliabinsk Oblast, RSFSR. Elevation, 616 m. Magnitnaia Gora is located in a belt of Lower Carboniferous sedimentary (limestone, sandstone) and effusive strata that are cut by granites, diabases, and other igneous rocks. A large magnetite deposit (the Magnitogorsk deposit) formed at the contact between the sedimentary and igneous rocks. Much of the deposit has already been worked, and the mountain is partially deformed. A large metallurgical combine and the city of Magnitogorsk have been built during the Soviet era on the Ural River next to Magnitnaia Gora. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
