Maimecha
(also Medvezh’ia), a river in Evenki National Okrug and Taimyr (Dolgan-Nenets) National Okrug, Krasnoiarsk Krai, RSFSR; a right tributary of the Kheta River (Khatanga basin). It is 650 km long and drains a basin of 26,500 sq km. In its upper course the river flows through a narrow valley and passes through a number of small lakes. In the middle course the valley widens and its slopes become steep. The river’s lower course is in the North Siberian Lowland. The Maimecha is fed by snow and rain. The average flow rate is approximately 285 cu m per sec. The spring high waters (from late May to late June) are followed in the summer by flooding. From September through May the water level is low.
