Majordomo A mailing list program on the Internet made up of a series of Perl scripts and C source code. It runs in most Unix environments. See mailing list.
Majordomo mayor of the palace, the highest official in the Frankish state under the Merovingians (late fifth to mid-eighth centuries). Initially the majordomo was appointed by the king and headed the palace administration. In the process of feudalization, with the weakening of royal power, the functions of the majordomo expanded; from the middle of the seventh century, state power was essentially concentrated in the hands of the majordomo, who was the largest landowner. Majordomos of the Pepin clan achieved the greatest importance: one of them, Pepin the Short, seized the throne in 751, founding the Carolingian dynasty. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
