Posmitnyi, Makar Anisimovich 

Born Jan. 19 (31), 1895, in the village of Dzhugastrovo, in what is now Berezovka Raion, Odessa Oblast; died Apr. 3, 1973, in the village of Rassvet, Berezovka Raion. Organizer of kolkhoz production in the Ukraine. Chairman of the Twenty-first Congress of the CPSU Kolkhoz (awarded the Order of Lenin) of Berezovka Raion, Odessa Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. Twice decorated as Hero of Socialist Labor (1949, 1958); Honored Agricultural Worker of the Ukrainian SSR. Member of the CPSU from 1931.

In 1924, Posmitnyi organized an association for joint working of the land in the village of Rozkvit, Berezovka Raion, Odessa Oblast; under his leadership, this association became a model collective farm. From 1941 to 1945, Posmitnyi fought in the Great Patriotic War. In 1945 he became chairman of the Budennyi Kolkhoz, later renamed the Twenty-first Congress of the CPSU Kolkhoz. From 1935 to 1937 he was a member of the Central Executive Committee of the USSR.

Posmitnyi was a delegate to the Nineteenth through Twenty-fourth Congresses of the CPSU and a deputy to the fourth through eighth convocations of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. He was repeatedly elected a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Ukraine and was a delegate to the First through Third All-Union Congresses of Kolkhoz Workers. In 1969 he was elected a member of the Union Kolkhoz Council.

Posmitnyi was awarded the Order of Lenin three times, the Order of the October Revolution, four other orders, and various medals.
