Makarova, Liudmila Iosifovna
Born Oct. 20, 1921, in Leningrad. Soviet Russian actress. People’s Artist of the USSR (1977). Member of the CPSU since 1953. Makarova graduated from the studio of the Leningrad Bolshoi Drama Theater in 1941 and joined the theater company in 1945. From 1941 to 1945 she performed with the Baltic Fleet Theater. Makarova’s roles have included Liza in Griboedov’s Woe From Wit, Natasha in Chekhov’s The Three Sisters, Anna Andreevna in Gogol’s The Inspector-General, Elena in Gorky’s Smug Citizens, and the title role in Tsagareli’s Khanuma.
