Manning, Warren Henry

Manning, Warren Henry (1860–1938) landscape architect; born in Reading, Mass. Son of a nurseryman, he joined the Olmsteds as a horticulturalist in 1888, becoming a design assistant before opening his own firm (1896–1938). Enormously successful, he delighted in training young designers and actively promoted the American Society of Landscape Architects. His commissions included a parkway system for Harrisburg, Pa., the Hampton Institute in Virginia, and the Jamestown Exposition of 1907.
