Manuilova, Ol’ga Maksimilianovna 

Born Oct. 17 (29), 1893, in Nizhny Novgorod, present-day Gorky. Soviet sculptor. People’s Artist of the Kirghiz SSR (1954).

From 1913 to 1917, Manuilova studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture. She has worked in Kirghizia since 1939. A master of large-scale decorative sculpture, she also did portraits and small sculptures. Her works include the bas-relief Soviet Constitution on the House of the Procurator (cement, 80 sq m, 1941), a monument to General I. V. Panfilov (granite, cement, 1942, with A. A. Manuilov), decorative groups in the Kirghiz Theater of Opera and Ballet (concrete, 1952-55), a monument to Togolok Moldo (granite, 1963), and a monument to the cosmonaut V. M. Komarov (cement, 1969)—all are in the city of Frunze. Manuilova has been awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.
