Manukovskii, Nikolai Fedorovich 

Born Oct. 15, 1926, in the village of Vtoraia Usman’, in present-day Novaia Usman’ Raion, Voronezh Oblast. One of the initiators of comprehensive mechanization of agricultural production, a brigade leader since 1959 at the Kirovskii Sovkhoz (until 1969 the Kirov Kolkhoz) in Novaia Usman’ Raion, Voronezh Oblast. Hero of Socialist Labor (1959). Became a member of the CPSU in 1951.

Between 1942 and 1958, Manukovskii was a tractor operator at the Kirov Kolkhoz. In 1956 he and his assistant fully mechanized the cultivation of corn and raised 375 quintals of bulk greens per hectare (ha) from 130 ha; in 1958 their yield was 412 quintals of bulk greens per ha, which included 96 quintals per ha of ears in the milk-waxy stage (for 200 ha). In 1958 they used comprehensive mechanization in raising sunflowers (on 40 ha), and in 1959 they used it in animal husbandry. As of 1972 the brigade had 2,910 ha of cropland, 1,621 cattle, including 610 cows, and 3,500 hogs. The yield of grain crops was 26.8 quintals per ha in 1968, 24.7 in 1969, 27 in 1970, and 26 in 1971.

Manukovskii was a delegate to the Twenty-first through Twenty-third Congresses of the CPSU. At the Twenty-second Congress he was elected a member of the Central Committee of the CPSU. He was a deputy to the fifth and sixth convocations of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR and was a member of the presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR at the sixth convocation. He has been awarded two Orders of Lenin, two other orders, a medal, and the large gold medal of the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition.
