Manzano Mountains State Park Location: 16 miles northwest of Mountainair via NM 55 and 131. Facilities: 37 developed campsites (8 with electric hookups), restrooms (é), picnic area, group shelter, hiking trails, nature trail. Activities: Camping, hiking, birding, wildlife viewing, cross-country skiing. Special Features: Park is set in a forest of ponderosa pine, Gambel's oak, and alligator juniper, which provide a rich habitat for a variety of wildlife. In addition, the park is situated along an important raptor flyway and has a field checklist available for visitors who enjoy birding. Park is closed from November through early April.
