Maranville, (Walter James Vincent) “Rabbit” (1891–1954) baseball player; born in Springfield, Mass. During his 23-year career as an infielder (1912–35), mostly with the Boston Braves, he established many fielding records with his colorful play, including most lifetime putouts by a shortstop (5,133).
