Marcel Riesz

Riesz, Marcel 

Born Nov. 16, 1886, in Győr. Mathematician of Hungarian origin. Brother of F. Riesz. Resident of Sweden from 1911.

Between 1904 and 1910, Riesz studied in Budapest, Göttingen, and Paris. He was a docent at the University of Stockholm from 1911 to 1927. In 1927 he became a professor at the University of Lund. Riesz’ works deal with Fourier series, Dirichlet series, divergent series, inequalities, and mathematical physics.
