March Security

    0.02 sec.
March Security

a form of security provided troops on the march.

March security is organized to protect troops from surprise attack by enemy ground troops and to create more favorable conditions for joining battle. Depending on whether the direction of the movement is toward the front or away from the front, march security is provided by the advance guard (advance detachment if the regiment marches in the advance guard of the division) or the rear guard (rear guard support if the regiment marches in the rear guard of the division), flank guards, and rear and advance parties. Direct protection is also provided in the form of patrols.
