Margrethe II 

Born Apr. 16, 1940, in Copenhagen. Queen of Denmark since January 1972. Member of the Glücksburg dynasty; daughter of King Frederick IX. Became crown princess in 1958.

Margrethe II studied state law, international law, economics, and archaeology at the University of Copenhagen, the University of Århus, Cambridge University, and the Sorbonne.
