Marian Malowist

Born Dec. 19, 1909, in Łódź. Polish historian.

Malowist was appointed a professor at the University of Warsaw in 1949. His research is devoted to the socioeconomic history of Poland and Europe in the era of feudalism. He stimulated research on the history of crafts in Renaissance Poland and of West European colonial expansion in Africa. Małowist is the founder and editor (since 1958) of the journal Acta Poloniae historica.
