Morinda
a genus of shrubs or low trees of the family Rubiaceae. There are 60 to 80 species in the tropics of both hemispheres. The roots and wood of many species yield a dye that is used to stain tissues yellow, red, and chocolate brown. Before the appearance of synthetic stains, Morinda citrifolia and M. coreia (or M. tinctoria) were widely cultivated. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
