Morinda

a genus of shrubs or low trees of the family Rubiaceae. There are 60 to 80 species in the tropics of both hemispheres. The roots and wood of many species yield a dye that is used to stain tissues yellow, red, and chocolate brown. Before the appearance of synthetic stains, Morinda citrifolia and M. coreia (or M. tinctoria) were widely cultivated.
