Marine Observatory

Marine Observatory

a specialized hydrometeorological observatory whose task is to study the hydrometeorological regime of the sea and give methodological guidance to marine hydrometeorological stations and posts. Many marine observatories also give operational hydrometeorological support to the maritime and fishing fleets by forecasting weather and sea turbulence and giving warnings of hydrometeorological phenomena that are dangerous to ships and port areas.
