Marisol (Escobar) (1930– ) sculptor, painter, graphic artist; born in Paris, France. Of Venezuelan parents, she studied in Paris (1949), settled in New York City (1950), and studied at the Art Students League (1950), the New School (1951–54), and the Hans Hofmann School (1951–54). She is known for her witty satirical carvings and assemblages in wood, plaster, paint, and other materials, such as Woman and Dog (1964). How to thank TFD for its existence?
