Mark Twain Birthplace State Historic Site Location: In Mark Twain State Park, off Highway 107 in Monroe County, adjacent to the village of Florida. Facilities: Historic site, museum. Activities: Guided tours. Special Features: A modern museum surrounds the two-room 1830s cabin where author-humorist Samuel Langhorne Clemens (later known as Mark Twain) was born. The museum's exhibits, which include first editions of his books and a handwritten manuscript of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, cover his childhood and his adult life as an author and businessman.
