Marka 

(Merca) a city in southern Somalia, on the Indian Ocean; administrative center of the district of Benadir. Population, 70,000 (1969). Foreign trade port (goods turnover, approximately 60,000 tons). Bananas grown on plantations near Genale and Vittorio d’Africa are exported from Marka. The city has a cotton-ginning plant.

A senior member of the group in the port town of Marka said the teenagers had confessed.
Khreisat said the department has already executed plans of the districts of Marka, Al-Naser, Marj Al-Hamam, Badr Al-Jadidah, Basman, Tareq, Shafa Badran, Al-Jubeiha, Al-'Abdali, Tla' Al-Ali, Sweileh, Badr, Ras Al-'Ein, and Al-Madinah (city center).
They plotted to bomb a Roman Catholic Church in Amman's eastern district of Marka after initially planning to strike against a police battalion in protest at the jailing of Islamist suspects.
