Marlatt, Abby Lillian (1869–1943) home economist, educator; born in Manhattan, Kans. She pioneered the teaching of high school home economics in Rhode Island (1894–1909) before joining the home economics department at the University of Wisconsin's School of Agriculture (1909). As its director (1913–39), she built it into one of the largest and most influential in the country. |
