Maroua

Maroua 

(Marua), city in northern Cameroon. Population, 31,000 (1970, estimate). Maroua is linked by highway with Douala and Yaounde. It is the center of an agricultural region (cotton, peanuts, cattle). A meat-canning plant, cotton-ginning plants, and the cottonseed oil industry are there. The city has a steam power plant.
