Marsa’al Burayqah
a port in Libya on the Gulf of Sidra in the Mediterranean Sea. Petroleum exports were 40 million tons in 1970. Crude oil comes to the port via pipelines from Zaltan, Raqubah, and other oilfields. The port also has an oil refinery (with a capacity of about 500,000 tons of crude oil a year), a sulfur plant, and a liquified-gas plant (about 3.5 billion cu m of gas a year).
